Poster Prep: Self Portrait with Words

 The past few class periods students in grades 6-8th have been working towards creating their "About Me" poster. This project challenges students to create a self portrait and find words that reflect their personality. Previous student examples are shown below. 

            

We have been learning about the Art Nouveau movement to help brainstorm different elements for our posters. Students engaged with famous artists like Alphonse Mucha and Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.

                                             

Students viewed many different Rock Posters featuring artistic elements from the Art Nouveau movement. They learned how art can evolve over the decades but still stay the same. We engaged with the Kaleidoscopic trends in art work done by Wes Wilson and Bonnie MacLean.

  

Students learned about new art materials and implemented new skills to further their creative expression in their "process" during studio work time. Student Prep work, by 6th and 7th grade girls as well as 8th grade boys, shown below:
