That's a Wrap!

Thank you for a wonderful first year!

I am so happy to be apart of the St Peter Art community. I'm grateful for all the wonderful people that I have met this year, and I'm looking forward to all the amazing art we will make together next year!  :)

Kindergarten End of Year Self Portraits

It's the end of the year and our youngest artists are doing Self Portraits! Students learned about the components of drawing a realistic Self Portrait. They learned about skin tones, hair color, and how to draw different facial features.

However, there was a twist to this project: students drew what they thought they would look like next year! For example, would they get freckles or get their ears pierced over summer break, or would they cut their hair or grow it out? Ms. Thurman will hang up our self portraits when we return after break to compare.

JC MOMA 6th & 7th Grade Field Trip

Our 6th and 7th grade art club members took a field trip to the Jefferson City Museum of Modern Art. Most of our group had not visited before, and it was a great opportunity to see original artworks.

We viewed the artwork of Purvis Young, who's artwork is also exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Students also saw art by Thornton Dial, who has artwork on sale at Christie's for $225,000 starting. We interacted with the vibrant, detailed work of Aboudia; who's works have been exhibited globally in New York, London, Paris, Barcelona, as well as Art Central in Hong Kong. Students also saw an original Picasso

Thank you so much to the JC MOMA for hosting us! Check out our photos below and https://www.jcmoma.com/ webpage for more!
