 Fifth through Eighth grade students are implementing the Elements of Art to create an educational poster on Substance Abuse. Students have learned about the history of the "Just say No" campaign and have the option to participate in the regional contest for a cash prize. Check out 6th grade working hard: 

Submit your artwork!  Students interested in displaying their artwork, and competing against other artists in their grade, may submit an original work to the  2022 St. Peter Catholic School Art Contest and Exhibition.  Any student in grades K-8 are welcome to submit original artwork by April 29th .  8th grade Art Club members will judge each artwork and select the Top 3 artworks to be exhibited.  Information regarding the type of artwork accepted, and protocols for judging are listed below:  Type of artwork accepted:  2D 3D and photography Protocols for judging:  Composition: balance, unity, theme  Color: greyscale or vibrant  Format: completed work, no wide-rule notebook paper, no tracing/copying, Student name (first & last), grade, and date must be included on the artwork.  3rd grade students learned about Found Object Art. We explored the artwork of Purvis Young, who's work is being exhibited at the JCMOMA in Jefferson City, MO.  Young was an American artist who spent most of his life unhoused. He utilized Found Object art to create art that told of his lived experience.  Students utilized different recycled materials, as well as materials from home, to create original artwork. Materials used included a range of objects: charging cords, plastic "take out" containers, fabrics, soda cans, tissue boxes, cotton balls...the list goes on!  Students were also able to enter their Found Object artwork in the JCMOMA contest. They named their artwork and wrote an Artist Statement about their piece which described their process and passion behind the work.  Check out some of our creations below:
